Huella de Carbono Perú

The official tool of Peru's Ministry of the Environment.
In one sentence

The free, voluntary platform of Peru's Ministry of the Environment for measuring, verifying and reducing an organization's carbon footprint, with four recognition levels.

Who created it

The Ministry of the Environment, through Article 55 of the Regulation of the Framework Law on Climate Change, Supreme Decree No. 013-2019-MINAM. The same article states that its use is free and voluntary.

Private organizations, including sole proprietors, and public entities can register.

The four levels

  1. Measurement: generate the emissions report for a calendar year on the platform.
  2. Verification: submit the statement of a verifier accredited under NTP ISO 14065 and the greenhouse gas report for the same year.
  3. Reduction: be verified two years in a row, with at least one mitigation action in the most recent, and lower at least one indicator.
  4. Reduction +: starting from Reduction, one of three options: sustained reduction, work with suppliers, or neutralization with units from projects authorized by the Peruvian State.

For each level the ministry may issue a diploma and a seal. The seal applies to a specific year.

How it is calculated

Under NTP ISO 14064-1:2020, with factors aligned with the national inventory, INFOCARBONO. It only counts emissions within national territory.

In June 2026 about 2,900 organizations were registered and 689 had their footprint verified.

What it does not allow

The seal cannot be used on products or packaging: it recognizes the organization's footprint, not a product's.
