What it requires on emissions
Gross Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, in tonnes of CO2 equivalent, measured under the 2004 GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, unless an authority requires another method.
Scope 2 is reported with the location-based method. For Scope 3 the entity must consider the 15 categories and say which ones it includes. Entities in asset management, commercial banking or insurance add financed emissions.
When it applies in Chile
The CMF brought it into the annual report through NCG 519. It is mandatory from annual reports covering 2027, which are filed in 2028. The CMF pushed that date back a year on July 27, 2026, through NCG 572.
Until then it is voluntary. An entity that adopts it earlier must say so in the annual report.
First-year relief
In the first annual period, the standard allows an entity not to disclose Scope 3 emissions. It also allows it to keep using a method other than the GHG Protocol if it was already using it.
We would not read that as a free year. Scope 3 is what takes longest.
